A crisp, cooling blend of green tea, fresh garden mint, and a zesty lemon kick. It's hydration with a Mediterranean soul!
Bring 2 cups of water to a simmer (not a rolling boil) in a small pot.
Remove from heat and add the green tea bags. Let them steep for exactly 3 minutes to avoid bitterness.
Don't squeeze the tea bags when removing them; it makes the tea cloudy!
While the tea steeps, place the fresh mint leaves in a large pitcher and use a wooden spoon to gently muddle them with the lemon slices.
Remove the tea bags and pour the warm tea over the mint and lemon. Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water.
Stir in the ice cubes to chill rapidly and serve immediately in tall glasses.
This is my favorite way to stay hydrated without the sugar crash. The secret is slapping the mint between your palms before adding it—it releases all those aromatic oils! If you want it a bit sweeter, a teaspoon of honey dissolved in the warm tea works wonders. Inspired by the tea culture of North Africa but kept cool for those hot American summers.
